Individual Project - Psychological Space? - First Shots

Here are some of the best shots from my trip to mums work at night. Trying to create an anxious atmosphere, also the idea of leading somewhere. The photos seem to have common thread of fluorescent lights, exit signs, corridors and open and closed doors.

Martin Parr - psychological spaces

Par's 'bored couples' photos have people in them but their blank expressions almost make them a park of the scenery, not important. Just another way of looking at things...

Lynne Cohen - Psychological space

B&W photographs of spaces with an intentional and implied narrative though the body is absent.

Paul Batt (aka you) - psychological spaces

He's alright...

Similar lighting and feel to what I'd like to shoot.

This one is actually almost exactly the feel i want to capture, with the lighting...

Candidia Hoffer - Psychological Spaces

Vacant learning spaces / libraries / schools.

I think this would work well for looking at anxiety related to study and achievement.

Thomas Struth - psychological spaces

Uses Neutral Density Filter and a super long exposure - to take photos of seemingly deserted streets. The photos of New York's business district and deserted back alleys in China are eerie and apocalyptic. Something so normal, but shot in a way that we never see them.

Eva Hesse - psychological psace

Hesse creates a physical 'space' that creates a psychological response in the viewer. Her sculptures are evocative of her illness and her degrading physical health, as they were designed to be temporary and degrade themselves. Very beautiful and bit melancholy. I especially like 'Untitled (rope) 1970.
